CT Radiation Dose Safety Conference
Right Scan, Right Dose, Right Now!
June 7, 2011 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
ECRI Institute Headquarters, Plymouth Meeting, PA (directions)

A dramatic uptick in the use of ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes has coincided with the advancement in imaging technology, especially with computed tomography (CT), the largest single contributor of radiation dose. Inappropriate radiation doses have raised public concerns and attracted attention in the media. Failure to implement measures for delivering appropriate CT radiation dose can result in unnecessarily high exposures, placing patients at increased risk of cancer and other conditions. ECRI Institute is pleased to present this half-day program in partnership with the Health Care Improvement Foundation to learn about strategies to protect patients from radiation overexposure. Click HERE for additional information about the conference and the full the agenda.

Along with presentations by ECRI Institute experts, the conference will include a keynote presentation by William Hendee, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Biophysics and Institute for Health and Society, Medical College of Wisconsin. With funding through the Partnership for Patient Care, this conference will launch a 12-month collaborative aimed at addressing factors related to inappropriate or excessive radiation dose associated with CT scanning and implementing practices that reduce radiation doses in hospitals and outpatient imaging centers across Southeast Pennsylvania. Plan to participate now!

Registration deadline May 27, 2011. Space is limited so we cannot accommodate walk-in registrations. Early registration is encouraged.
